Planet in Focus is thrilled that Mr. Bateman will be present at our Closing Night Gala on October 17th to receive the 2010 Planet in Focus International Eco Hero Award.

“I can’t conceive of anything being more varied and rich and handsome than the planet Earth. And its crowning beauty is the natural world. I want to soak it up, to understand it as well as I can, and to absorb it...And then I’d like to put it together and express it in my paitning. This is the way I want to dedicate my life.”
Robert Bateman

Robert Bateman’s powerful images have collectively inspired millions and continue to guide a new generation of people who care deeply about the issues facing our planet, especially ecological and species preservation.

JOIN US for a special evening as we close the 2010 Planet in Focus International Environmental Film Festival. Mr. Bateman will be in attendance.

Planet in Focus’ Closing Night takes place Sunday October 17 at The Royal where director Brian Hill’s Climate of Change will be screened. Tickets for Closing Night are $22 – Call the Box Office at 416-968-3456 (FILM) or visit our on-line film guide.

2010 Spotlight on Biodiversity

The UN has declared 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity. Planet in Focus will spotlight biodiversity with a range of films and events that will celebrate, raise awareness and shed light on the critical issues surrounding the state of biodiversity on our planet, species at risk and conservation measures.

Bio-diversity looks at the variety of life at all its levels, from genes to ecosystems, and the ecological and evolutionary processes that sustain it – basically it is all about life on earth. Planet in Focus, is interested in gripping visual stories that will examine this topic in a range of ecosystems, including our cities, water systems, oceans, deserts, forests, mountains, the impact of climate change on the biodiversity of our planet and the people who are contributing to our knowledge and awareness of the issues.
